We have announced the winners of our 2014 scholarships. Competition was tough this year, and we are dealing with a slightly tighter budget then years past. Even with budget constraints, we were able to award $6000 in scholarships this year! We will continue to contribute as much money as we can to our scholarship program. We feel this is one of the most important things we can do to give back to our members and the community. The recipients of the $1500 Kane County Corn Growers scholarships for 2014 were:
Jason Biddle
Mitchell Dienst
Tyler Fabrizius
Erin Kettelkamp
Congratulations to our winners!
The Kane County Corn Growers Association invites you to participate in our 29th annual corn hybrid plot. The plot will be located at our permanent location at the corner of Route 47 and Beith Road, about 1½ miles north of Elburn.
Due to the overwhelming positive feedback on the 2013 plot, we are continuing to invest in randomized, replicated plots. As a reminder, we are working with an independent contractor to plant and harvest the plots. This will differ from a ‘side by side’ plot in the following ways:
The entry fees this year will be $125 for 1 hybrid, with a limit of three hybrids per company ($375 if three hybrids are submitted). Please note that each hybrid will be planted three times in the corn on corn plot, and three times in the 1st year corn plot. Plot space is limited to 50 total hybrids – submissions will be accepted on a first come first served basis.
Checks should be made out to the Kane County Corn Growers.
The entry form and fee must be received by March 14th at:
Kane County Corn Growers Association
P.O. Box 781

March 22nd is also the deadline for delivery of seed to Elburn Coop at:

On Friday February 7, 2014 President Jeff Keifer and Vice President John Biddle visited senator Jim Oberweiss to talk about key issues facing production agriculture today. This program, created by the Farm Bureau, provided a way for our organization to communicate important issues to our elected officials. We shared a nice lunch with the Senator and his staff and will continue to support this program.
Our next board meeting is set for tomorrow night 11/7. The board will review the data from our annual corn hybrid plot. Soon after the results will be posted here and also sent out electronically to our seed reps. Copies of the plot results will also be available at the Elburn Co-op office in Elburn, IL. We will also release a report summarizing results from our soybean fungicide trial. Stay tuned………..
The corn plot is being harvested this morning using specialized equipment. We are hoping to deliver some great results for our seed reps very soon. Early observations show a very big range of yields. Stay tuned for pictures and results
